Chemical Hoses
Chemical hoses are often chemical-resistant because of the jobs these hoses are expected to do. They are used to spray pesticides, herbicides, and transfer chemicals between holding tanks. The hoses cannot disintegrate, melt, or weaken, or the humans working with and around these hoses will be seriously injured. That is vastly different from a fire hose, where the nature of fire hose can save lives.
Fire hoses
Fire hoses are thick, heavy duty, large diameter hoses designed to maintain high flows of water and contain extreme water pressure. They are different from chemical hoses in that they are usually only used with water, although new dry chemicals added to the water in a pump truck are now used to help extinguish fires. Short of stabbing these hoses with a knife or slicing them with a fire ax while the hoses are fully engorged with water, nothing will damage them. That is worlds apart from garden hoses, which can be damaged by just about anything.
Garden Hoses
While you could try to put out small fires with a garden hose, a larger house fire will melt and obliterate the garden hose before you get very far. Garden hoses could not withstand chemicals like chemical hoses, nor could the garden hoses create enough water pressure like the fire hoses. In fact, garden hoses are really only good for one thing; watering the yard and plants in your yard. Subjecting a garden hose to any of the above specialty jobs would be a foolhardy endeavor, indeed.

Not only do you have all of the above hose types and what they can and cannot do, but you also have variants of each hose type. The variants are designed with a specific purpose in mind. For example, only a special kind of chemical hose can be used for the transport and exchange of muriatic acid, and attempting to use any other kind of chemical hose for this highly caustic chemical could result in serious chemical damage and chemical burns.
